Narrative

Following the course of a night out in London, short film Here with Me journeys through the freedom and hedonism of youth, and the power of memories we carry from these times. With the intention to illustrate London as a living and breathing character, director Marcus Kartal frames the city as if through a drug-induced haze, shooting on 16mm film and using guerrilla filmmaking to cast a naturalistic lens on his subject.

“The question is which memory will you take to your own grave? There’s a ghostly atmosphere in ‘Here With Me’. I wanted something real and familiar; a place I don’t go to anymore and activities I don’t participate in anymore but rather live through from a far, vicariously with these characters.”
